Candles
I have decided to write a page on candles and what the colours represent having been influenced by somebody today.
Candles today are mainly made out of paraffin but can also be made out of beeswax, soy and other plant waxes. Gel candles tend to be made out of a mixture of paraffin and plastic.
In Paganism we tend to use candles to symbolise the presence of either the God, Goddess, or both, and also to represent Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. Rituals and spells tend to start with the lighting of the candle, and then again with the ending of the ritual or spell when the candle is burnt out.
Candles have been used throughout time and black candles were demonised by certain religions, as they were used often, to represent the devil and evil, when infact they were used and are used for the exact opposite. Even today, real black candles are hard to come by in the UK, most are very dark shades of brown or blue, or are just dipped black.
Red Candle | Overall candle! Mainly used for love, sex and passion the red candle is also good for protection, energy, vitality, warmth, energy, health, potency, strength, fertility, lust, fast action, blood, courage, attraction, desire, willpower and physical strength.

Brown Candle | Earth, a balanced color. Rituals for material gain, eliminates indecisiveness, furthers powers of concentration, learning, telepathy. Expands financial success, finds lost items. Black Candle | Burning black with any other color disolves negative energies! Protection, hex-breaking, reversing, banishing, destroying evil or negativity, binding, and repelling. Also used for healing very powerful illnesses. |
Green Candle | Abundance, growth, money, success, wealth, physical healing, health, marriage, fertility, employment, balance, Stimulates growth, healing, financial success, good luck, new job, good harvest, nature appreciation, love. |
